The X Family Foundation is a proud supporter of the (SFFXC) South Florida Fragile X Clinic at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Recently, the SFFXC began seeing adult patients with FXTAS (Fragile X Tremor Ataxia Symdrome) that affects Fragile X Carriers later on in life with Parkinsonslike symptoms. They are also currently working on adding clinic services for adults with Fragile X Syndrome. The SFFXC is one of 27 clinics in the United States dedicated to treating those affected by Fragile X Syndrome. It is Part of the Fragile X Clinical and Research Consortium. It is a multi-disciplinary clinic that includes specialists in Genetics, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, Audiology, Speech and Language Pathologist, Psychology, Educational & Assistive Technology Specialist, Occupational Therapy and a Social Worker. In addition, the clinic is also participating in clinical trials of drug therapies targeted at Fragile X Syndrome.
